Oronna Hall, IlaroOronna hall was commissioned under the chairmanship of chief Adejumo (Asiwaju Olu of Ilaro) on the 4th of April, 1964 by the then Egbado Divisional Council, Ilaro. That was during the reign of HRM Oba Adekunle Ojobo, the Olu of Ilaro.It was built at a town hall for holding meetings and social activities. In the early 70s, it served as the town viewing center for watching program on television when TVs was not common among households.The town hall was renamed after the legendary warrior of the Ilaro people, Oronna with the Oronna shrine located behind the hall up till today.It has been a tradition that whosoever will ascend the throne of Olu of Ilaro and paramount ruler of Yewa land must be crowned at Oronna hall after observing all the necessary traditional rites at the Oronna shrine behind the Oronna hall. The practice still holds till today.The hall has become a tourist attraction due to the historic Oronna shrine located within the Oronna hall premises and the unique statue of the legend Oronna built in front of the hall.Today the Oronna hall still host major town social activities and it is managed now by Yewa south local government.
